The Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) is preparing for one of the most exciting international cricket seasons in recent memory, following confirmation of all home international fixtures for the 2026/27 season.
The upcoming summer promises world-class cricket, packed stadiums and significant commercial opportunities for partners looking to align with one of South Africa’s premier sporting venues.
The iconic New Year’s Test match returns to its rightful home in Cape Town, reinforcing the city’s status as one of the most celebrated cricket destinations in the world.
The 2026/27 international programme will see Cape Town host two major Test matches against fierce rivals Australia and England, along with a One Day International against Bangladesh. With global audiences expected to tune in and thousands of fans travelling to the city, the season is set to deliver exceptional exposure for brands associated with Western Province Cricket.
In anticipation of this landmark season, WPCA has partnered with Megapro to conduct an independent valuation of its commercial assets, examining opportunities across stadium naming rights, team naming rights, and other key sponsorship properties. The outcomes of this completed stadium naming rights valuation now provide a structured, data-driven platform to go to market and comes ahead of the upcoming conclusion of the current stadium naming rights agreement with World Sports Betting.
WPCA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Corrie van Zyl, said the partnership represents an important step in strengthening the organisation’s commercial capability.
“Partnering with Megapro is a strategic move to unlock the full commercial potential of our assets. Their expertise and proven track record will help us deliver world-class sponsorship solutions that benefit our stakeholders and elevate the Western Cape as a global sports destination.”
To ensure an objective and internationally benchmarked process, Futures Sport & Entertainment, a consultancy with global sports industry experience, has been appointed to conduct the independent valuation. The initiative signals WPCA’s commitment to building sustainable commercial partnerships that will support the growth of cricket in the Western Cape while enhancing the match-day experience for fans and partners alike.
Marc Jury, CEO of Megapro added:
“With world-class international cricket returning to Cape Town, the 2026/27 season offers brands a powerful platform to align with one of South Africa’s most iconic sporting properties. Through this valuation process, we are working to unlock the full commercial potential of WPCA’s assets and structure partnerships that deliver long-term value for both WPCA and its commercial partners.”
